Each year, per our bylaws, our congregation nominates and elects at its annual congregational meeting its leaders. The following leaders will serve on the Church Board, which is charged to “concern itself with broad matters of congregational life and health, theology and ministry, long-range planning, policy, administration and finance.” Each of the positions we are receiving nominations for are for a two-year term (January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027).
Moderator leads the Board and works with the ordained staff and congregation to help fulfill the mission of the Church. Cristina Mahon's second term is completed at the end 2025 and she has chosen not to serve a third term.
Vice-Moderator leads the Board when the Moderator is absent and may lead or represent the board on administrative teams, such as the personnel and nominating teams, and others as determined by the Board. Joann Johnson has one year left of her second term, but may be nominated for moderator.
Secretary manages official church documents such as the bylaws, policies, administrative and ministry team descriptions, and memberships, and provides minutes of Board meetings. Caitlin Miskelly reached the end of her third term in 2025 and is term limited.
Member-at-large (two positions) – These members of the congregation, who are active in the life of the church, support the work of the Board with two to three ad hoc responsibilities during the year. Emily Lovell is completing her current term and will not be seeking an additional term. Ben Nelson is completing his current term and is eligible to be nominated for an additional term.
Other Board Members currently serving through 2026: Gordon Thayer -- Treasurer; and Deanne Roon and Kimball Rhoads -- Board Member At-Large.
In addition to our Board leaders, our Bylaws call for the leadership positions listed below to be elected by the congregation. Each of these positions is also for a two-year term, January 2026 through December 2027.
Elder (seeking up to 4 persons to serve) one in whom, like the pastoral staff, the congregation entrusts the spiritual life of the of its members and friends for prayer, guidance and service. Elders serving through 2026 are Mary Turner, Bill Stout, Don Cullers, Lynn Jones, Barry Broughton, and Kim Cochran-Ward. Serving as Elders Emeritus is Patsy Nix. Jake Miskelly and Celeste Scott are completing their current terms and will not be seeking an additional term. Elders whose terms are completed at the end of 2025 and are eligible to be nominated for an additional term are Kathy Spare and Rachel Chappell.
Financial Secretary – The Financial Secretary is responsible for recording all financial gifts to the church, manage the counting, and provide reports to members, friends, and the Finance Team. Richard Austin's second term is complteted at the end of 2025 and he has chosen not to serve a third term.
Steward (seeking up to 3 people to serve) – The Stewards manage and distribute the church’s enduring gifts (endowment and memorial funds). Mark Turner, Janet Wright and Sue Cullers' first terms are completed at the end of 2025. Dave Peters' second term is completed at the end of 2026. Sue Cullers' first term is completed at the end of 2025 and she has chosen not to serve a second term. Mark Turner and Janet Wright's first terms are completed at the end of 2025 and they are eligible to serve an additional term.
